Hickeys appear when you bite or suck the skin. Removing a bruise within seconds or minutes is impossible because the blood under the skin takes time to heal. It may take two weeks for a hickey to heal.
However, some remedies can help clear them up faster.
Ice compresses or packs: Using cold or ice compresses on the skin can help to clear the hickey by various mechanisms, such as controlling the bleeding under the surface of the skin and decreasing inflammation. The skin may become less sensitive and painful. Use ice cubes in a cloth wrapped with a fresh piece of cloth and apply it over the bruise. You can also use a metal object, such as a spoon or bowl frozen for a while, as a compress. For best results, a cold compress should be applied as quickly as possible or within 12 hours after the hickey.
Hot compresses and massage: After 48 hours, you can apply hot compresses to speed healing. Use a warm water bottle or a cloth soaked with warm water to apply a compress on the hickey. Massage the bruise with a heating pad or a warm towel. It would be best to massage the bruise from the center outwards so that the clotted blood is moved away from the damaged skin. Repeat this procedure several times per day.
Arnica Gels or creams: Applying arnica cream or gel to the skin can help the hickey heal faster. Arnica has healing properties. Arnica is a homeopathic remedy and can be purchased over the counter.
Topical Vitamins: Applying Vitamin K or C topically to your skin can help you eliminate the bruise quicker.
Aloe Vera Gel: This natural and safe remedy may help heal a hickey faster.
Banana Peel Massage: Rubbing hickeys with the inside of banana peels for 15-20 minutes can help to get rid of them faster. The banana peels are said to have healing qualities.
Rest Do NOT irritate or disturb the area to get rid of your hickey. This can make the injury worse. You should consult a doctor if the hickey does not improve within a few weeks if you have more bruising, or if you experience severe swelling or pain.
What is a “hickey”?
When someone bites or sucks on your skin, as happens during passionate kissing, a hickey will appear. A bruise is caused by bleeding beneath the skin’s surface due to a minor injury of the superficial blood capillaries.

This could be because of the pressure on the carotid arterial on either side. The carotid arteries supply blood to the face, neck, and brain. These terms are used in dermatology to describe products that will not clog the pores or cause acne. It has been proven that salicylic or benzoyl acid products can help prevent acne breakouts and clear up existing acne. Wash your face with a soft washcloth. Baby washcloths are a great choice as they won’t irritate your skin.
Diet may play a role – avoid high-glycemic foods
Some people believe that eating sweets can cause acne. This may have some truth. Some evidence suggests that foods with a high glycemic index can cause acne. They alter the hormone levels, which leads to inflammation and increased oil production. Low glycemic food causes a more significant increase in blood sugar levels over a shorter period than high glycemic food. White bread and potatoes are high-glycemic examples. Low-glycemic food includes lentils, beans, and nonstarchy vegetables. Consult your doctor to determine if your diet is contributing to acne.
